Lush ‘haul’

I went to Amsterdam today and I managed to not buy a thing at the M.A.C. store. Whaaat?? Nothing?? Yeah, that’s right, I didn’t get a thing! I did buy something at Lush though 😀 We don’t have Lush here in Rotterdam, so whenever I walk by one of their stores, I have to go in. I figured it was ok today, cause I didn’t spend any $ at the M.A.C. store. Good excuse, huh? This is what I got at Lush (just 1 item!). Herbalism: Detoxifying, purifying and exfoliating herbal cleansing roll wash for oilier and problem skin. Herbalism...

My second pedicure ever

I got my second pedicure ever last Friday. 🙂 My first pedicure ever was last year, right before I went on vacation to my family on the Cabo Verde Islands. I knew I was going to be walking around in flip flops all day for five weeks, so getting a pedicure was a necessary thing to do (in my eyes). So I went to a Brazilian/Capeverdean place a few minutes away from where we live. It was ok, but not super. It was kind of ghetto in my eyes. It was a small space with way too many people. They...

Caring for oily skin (an update)

I’ve written about dealing with oily skin often on this blog. It’s something I ‘suffer’ from and can not get rid of. Not for a 100% at least… 🙁 See? Ieew! Gross! Yes yes, I know that having an oily skin will delay the appearance of wrinkles, but sometimes it’s just not cool to be looking like someone dipped your head in a bucket of olive oil…. So in the last few years I’ve been collecting as many tips as possible on how to deal with oily skin: * I put on a peel-off facial mask every week (either Freeman’s...

Makeup Remover by Sephora

I’ve been using these two products by Sephora for removing my makeup: *Sephora FACE Purifying Makeup Remover (combination to oily skin) *Sephora FACE Eye Makeup Remover These are GREAT products. Non-oily, alcohol-free and non-greasy. BUT (of course there’s a but), I want something that doesn’t just remove (eye) make up. I want it to remove makeup, cleanse, purify, moisturize, feed, nurture etc etc. Basically do all sorts of fantastic stuff to my skin. 😀 Any recommendations, ladies?Read more...

How to deal with oily skin (5 tips)

I found these tips the other day online. I find them very useful, so I decided to share! 🙂 I myself have oily skin, so yeah…. See? Ieew! Gross! How to deal with oily skin 1. One challenge with oily skin is avoiding the urge to over-cleanse, which can confuse the heck out of skin, making it either crank up the oil production or swing between oily and excessively dry. Experts recommend avoiding alcohol-based cleansers, which can strip the skin. Instead, reach for gel cleaners and wash no more than twice a day. I may also use a gentle exfoliating...

Review: the Philips Epilator

Meet my latest purchase: the Philips Epilator HP6481 This thing removes hair. Not just the hair, but the whole thing,..root and all. The first time was a painful experience, especially the first few minutes… but I got used to the feeling after a while. Philips claims that after using this for just two months, the hair should not come back at all. My opinion? Seeing the result after using it just one time, is totally worth the pain I had. I got me some smooth and soft legs! Hopefully they will stay that way for a while.Read more...

Elicina snail cream to the rescue!

I’ve been using Elicina snail cream since the beginning of August and my skin looks better before. My cheeks still have red spots though… and some days are better than others. I’ve been noticing that my skins breaks out immediately after I eat peanuts or something like a Snickers bar. It turns red a few hours later and I get a few nasty zits. I’ll spare you the details. But anyway.. today I went to the doctor (again), but this time I had blood drawn. I don’t like to have blood drawn at all. It’s not that I can’t stand...
