Recent beauty purchases: Catrice and Essence

Giveaway: win a $50 gift certificate to Midnight Velvet to spend on fashion, jewelry, shoes or home decor. Go here for details. Hi everyone! I recently picked up a few things at the drugstore here in Holland. Surprisingly (or not?) they are all by Catrice and Essence. I wanted to get items that I can’t get in the US. Of course Essence is available at Ulta, but I made sure I picked out new items that aren’t available there yet. Check out what I got below. 🙂 Question to my readers in Holland: which other (new) Essence/Catrice products do you...

This or That: Essence or Wet N Wild Mattifying Powder?

Today I’ll be doing a review comparing two blotting powders from the drugstore. One is only available in the US: Wet N Wild Fergie Take On The Day Mattifying Powder. The other one is only available in Europe: Essence All About Matt Fixing Compact Powder. I thought it would be neat to see how the two compare. I know that my readers in the US are always curious to try products from Europe and vice versa. Since I’m currently in The Netherlands and I own both (I bought Essence’s powder when I first got here), I thought it would be...

What’s in my travel makeup bag…(part 2)

This is part 2 of me showing you which makeup items I brought with me from the US to the Netherlands (click here for part 1). 🙂 It’s always hard to make a selection, since I literally have drawers filled with stuff, but I did it! Here are all the lipsticks and lip glosses I packed. I made a point to bring more lip glosses, since I have own way too many at the moment, so it’s time to finish some! Hopefully by the end of my trip most of these will be empty…. This clear makeup bag from Sephora...

Traveling with makeup on an airline (how I pack)

If you caught this post from a couple of days ago, you know that I’ve recently traveled to the Netherlands. I was done with the snow in Kentucky and decided to visit my family in Europe where it’s a little bit warmer. 😉 Now that you’ve probably also seen the contents of my makeup bag (part 2 will follow tomorrow), I thought I would share how I go about packing my makeup. One thing I always try to keep in mind when packing my clothes is to be organized and make things simple. As for my makeup, the greatest tip...

What’s in my travel makeup bag…

Just like last year I’ll be showing you which makeup items crossed the ocean with me. 🙂 It’s always hard to make a selection, since I literally have drawers filled with stuff, but I did it! Some makeup I picked out cause they are my favorites and other items I decided to bring them because I haven’t used them yet/in a while and I really need to… Take a look at the contents of my travel makeup bag below. I’m doing this is two parts: “face”, “cheeks” and “eyes” today, “lips” and “tools” tomorrow. The makeup bag I brought with...

I’m back!

It’s been a little quiet on my blog, but I’m back! I’m actually typing this from my parents’ house in Holland (Europe). 🙂 For those who don’t know: in 2010 I moved from Europe to the US and every year around this time I try to visit my family back home for a couple of months. Last year I visited them in March and this year I’m here a little earlier in the year. Like last year Mason and I traveled by ourselves (daddy will be joining us later on), so preparing for the trip was a little bit of...

Attention Kroger shoppers!

Do you have a Kroger grocery store nearby? This post is for you then! Don’t sleep on these Kroger Home Sense household essentials! I typically rarely buy store brand products, but Kroger so far has not let me down. For example, I’ve been using their eye makeup remover and cotton swaps for a while now and they’re just as good as the bigger brands. I’ve also recently gotten the opportunity to try their Comforts for Babies brand and that didn’t disappoint either (you can see the products I tried in this post). Recently, Kroger and BzzAgent gave me the opportunity...

How to make your house smell like cranberry & apple cider for 30 days #FebrezeHoliday

Imaging coming home to a cold apartment in Northern Kentucky after being in California and Hawaii for a couple of weeks… Yeah, it kinda sucks. :/ Luckily, SheSpeaks knew exactly what I needed to lift my spirits, because they sent me this snazzy Febreze Holiday Scents Kit. It came with a note that said: ‘delight your senses with the wintry zest of cranberry mingled with warm, fragrant spices‘. Well, don’t mind if I do! I love winter scents and I love making my home smell like it’s ready for the holidays. This holiday scents kit was just what I needed...
