Beauty Question Answered: How do I prevent my foundation from looking caky?

Sometimes readers ask me skin care or makeup related questions. I usually answer them directly, but sometimes I answer them here. Today’s question is: How do I prevent my foundation from looking caky/powdery? Below are 5 tips that work great for me. πŸ™‚ 1) My first tip would be to exfoliate regularly, especially in winter. I find that I get caky where I have dry skin. When I exfoliate to get rid of dry areas and moisturize to keep them, my foundation turns out much better. 2) So yes, keeping your skin well moisturized helps a lot! Dry areas tend...

Everybody knows the basics of looking younger: drink lots of water, protect yourself skin from the sun, exfoliate, get plenty of sleep and choose skin care products that are right for your skin. Besides trying out different products there are other very simple ways to prevent eye wrinkles and other signs of aging. Here are some of my tips to prevent eye wrinkles. πŸ™‚ Get a silk...

Beauty Question Answered: do skin care products really expire?

Do skin care products really expire? What happens if I use a skin care product after the expiry date? This is something I’ve personally looked into since I have a lot of skin care products at home (we all know by now that I’m a product junkie…) and in the past I have come across products that were expired. I wasn’t sure what to do at the time, so I did some research online. My answer is below. πŸ™‚ Extending the expiration period a little bit doesn’t appear to be that bad. But at some point the active ingredients (or...

5 Hair Care Myths and why they are false

Back in November I reviewed hair products by the brand Parnevu. I tried their T-Tree Shampoo, Leave-In Conditioner and Oil Sheen and loved them! I find them great products, which explains why I’m still using them today! I don’t see myself switching to another brand any time soon. Why change a winning team, right? You can (re)read my review here. Two weeks ago Parnevu posted these ‘get the look’ pictures of me on their Facebook fanpage. It was a complete surprise to me, I had no idea they would be doing that! I would have worn something more exciting, outfit...

Post-Baby Acne: What To Do?

You might have noticed that I haven’t been posting any pictures of myself for a while. I haven’t been doing makeup ‘looks’, because my face hasn’t been looking that great. I’ve been suffering from postpartum acne: acne after pregnancey and delivery. The glow of pregnancy has been replaced by acne. πŸ™ It started about 2 months ago (my son is now 7 months). I attribute it to hormonal changes that go on during pregnancy and lactation (yes, I’m still nursing and this does crazy things to your hormones) and not getting any or enough sleep at night. It’s really bad....

Did you see Destiny’s Child performing at the Beyonce concert.. I mean, Super Bowl last night? Didn’t they look the same as they did 8 years ago? Seeing Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle do their thing like back in 2005 inspired me to write this post. They haven’t aged a bit! Ok, maybe just a little bit, but don’t they look great still? Beauty Question Answered: How to make your eyeshadows POP!

Click here for my current giveaway This isn’t a question that I’ve been asked personally, but I do know it’s a common question: How do you keep your eyeshadows from fading and moreover…How do you make your eyeshadows POP? I myself used to have these issues with my eyeshadows. Since my skin is oily (this includes my eyelids!), I had a hard time making the shadows I apply show up like they do in the pan. Beauty Question Answered: Fixing your broken pressed powder

Has this ever happened to you? I almost cried when I saw it… I had just purchased this compact (MAC Cosmetics Blot Powder in ‘dark’) a month ago. I bought it to carry in my handbag for touch-ups throughout the day (to stop my face from being oily) and I was sad to find it cracked the other day. πŸ™ I know that some cosmetics counters/stores replace it for you for free, but I honestly didn’t feel like going to a MAC store. The nearest one for me is about 40 minutes away… So I decided to ‘MacGyver’ (as my...
