Sonia Kashuk’s Goddess Bronzer: a dupe for MAC’s Superb?

After I talked about Sonia Kashuk’s newest illuminating bronzer, the Goddess Bronzer, some of you asked me if it’s a dupe for MAC Cosmetic’s Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Superb. Well, I can actually show you, because I now own both! I picked up Goddess Bronzer the other day at Target and, surprisingly, it was already on sale! I paid $9.99, in stead of the regular $12.99.

Sonia Kashuk Goddess Bronzer MAC Cosmetics Superb Extra Dimension Skinfinish

The Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Superb was limited edition and of course it sold out pretty fast (a common thing for MAC…). But I hope these pictures will help some of you guys who were thinking about picking up Goddess and wanted to know if it’s a dupe.

I didn’t make any swatches, because I want to keep them ‘intact’ for a little while longer, but just from the pictures you can see that Goddess is slightly darker and has more gold in it. They both have multi-dimension shimmer, but Superb is more of a soft peachy nude.

Check out the pictures of both below.

They are definitely not dupes, but they are both goooorgeous!! If you’re near a Target, definitely go see if they still have Sonia Kashuk’s bronzer. :-)

Inside my Julep May Bombshell Maven Box (all about nails!)

A while back I told you guys about Julep: a boutique/website that offers nail salon nail polishes and hand & foot care products. For $19.99 a month you receive a box of goodies with new nail/hand products that are at least $40 in value. Pretty cool! And what I like even better: the Julep Maven membership is hassle-free, risk-free and there is no commitment. You can gift your box to a friend, skip the month or cancel your membership at any time, free of charge. There is no binding commitment.

I’ve been a member ever since and every month I receive never before released nail polishes and hand products by Julep*. And every month I LOVE what I get! Yesterday I realized that I haven’t shown what’s been in my box for a while. I think now it’s a great time to do so, because Julep has really become one of my favorite nail polish brands! Besides a good moisturizer with sunscreen, I think having pretty nails is definitely a Spring and Summer must-have! :-)

Below is what I received for the month of May: it’s Julep’s Bombshell Maven Box. Let’s take a look!

One of the neat things about Julep Maven is that a week before your package is shipped out, you receive an email. This email closely describes what’s in the box you’re getting (including pictures!). If you don’t like what you’re being send, you can easily switch to a different style and receive a different package instead. Perfect!

I have a quite large collection of Julep products by now, since I’ve been a member since January. If you’d like to see a collective overview or more detailed reviews, let me know! I’d actually love to show you all of my polishes! :-)

Review: Eucerin Daily Protection line: face and body moisturizers with SPF protection

Living in the US definitely requires more sunscreen than living in The Netherlands. Especially here in the Midwest. Yesterday, for example, it was very humid and about 30 degrees Celcius (86 degrees) and it’s not even Summer yet, only May!

Some of you might know this already, but I have a slight sun allergy. :-( I get a rash (small whiteheads) on certain parts my face when I stay in the sun too much. What helps me a lot is having a good sunscreen.

Eucerin Daily Protection

So every year around this time I look for a new sunscreen, preferably a moisturizer with SPF protection. I prefer those over regular sunscreen, because I don’t like the extra step that comes with sunscreen before my moisturizer. 2-in-1 products are definitely the way to go for me!

I was sent two products by Eucerin’s Daily Protection line:

 Eucerin Daily Protection Moisturizing Face Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen (for face)
 Eucerin Daily Protection Moisturizing Lotion Sunscreen SPF 15 (for body)

Eucerin Daily Protection

top: Eucerin Daily Protection Moisturizing Face Lotion
bottom: Eucerin Daily Protection Moisturizing Lotion Sunscreen

What is it?
These are said to be really great moisturizers with SPF protection: they both have a high SPF and are oil-, dye- and fragrance-free. Below is how these products are described by Eucerin:

1) Eucerin Daily Protection Moisturizing Face Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen
Eucerin Daily Protection Moisturizing Face Lotion’s gentle, effective broad spectrum SPF 30 formula moisturizes for a full 24 hours while it helps prevent long-term skin damage and skin cancer when used with a sun safe program. Oil and fragrance-free, Eucerin Daily Protection is clinically proven to be safe for sensitive skin, and provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection against harmful rays. Non-comedogenic Eucerin Daily Protection can be worn alone or under makeup, and is recommended for adults with dry, sensitive skin who are for adults concerned about incidental sun exposure.

2) Eucerin Daily Protection Moisturizing Lotion Sunscreen SPF 15
 Blend of sunscreens including physical (inorganic) Titanium Dioxide provides sunburn protection
 Dimethicone enhances skin’s moisture barrier
 Urea and Glycerin intensively moisturize
 Antioxidant Vitamin E helps defend against free radicals caused by sun exposure

What are my thoughts?

– I like the fact that these products are not only effective sunscreens, but also great moisturizers. Saves time!
– They both contain the ingredients you need to protect your skin against the sun, but they also safe for sensitive skin, great for oily skin like mine (both lotions are oil and fragrance free) and moisturizing.
– The lotions are easily absorbed and don’t leave a greasy/oily residu or a white cast. The lotion for face is a bit thinner than the one for body (which is great!) and feels like a regular moisturizer on the skin.
– Both products do have a tiny bit of a sunscreen scent, but it’s not overpowering at all. Nothing to be bothered about, in my opinion. I’m actually happy that Eucerin didn’t add a fragrance, since added fragrances don’t go well with sensitive skin…
– They are both budget friendly. The bottles are pretty big and will definitely last you for months. Granted, the bottles aren’t the prettiest looking (they’re a bit boring), but they both have a pump, which I love.
– Eucerin products are widely available. You can find them at drugstores, grocery stores and discount stores. For my readers in The Netherlands: I’ve seen Eucerin products at Dutch pharmacies.

Both lotions from the Eucerin Daily Protection line retail for $9.49 each. The face lotion contains 4 fl. oz and the body lotion is 13.5 fl. oz. Plenty of product! If you’re in the market for new face and body moisturizers or if you’re running out of sunscreen, I definitely recommend these. Protect your skin from the sun, ladies!
