A while back I wrote about Christine’s foundation matrix over at Temptalia.com. Click here if you didn’t catch that post. Now, it’s been brought to my attention that Temptalia has another great thing! D. from FreshDimez told me about the ‘Makeup Dupe List’:

The economy might be on its way to recovery, but that doesn’t mean I’ll stop saving my money as much as possible (especially since I’m unemployed.. lol)!

For example, MAC’s Mulch eye shadow has been on my wish list for a while… It retails for $14.50. Looking at the make up dupe list I see that Milani’s Java Bean is a pretty decent lookalike. This eye shadow retails for only $4.00. Hmm…see how that goes?

My new best friend: Iman Cosmetics

I have a new best friend. Her name is Iman. Maybe you’ve heard of her? She’s a Somali model, actress and entrepreneur. A pioneer in the field of ethnic cosmetics, she is also noted for her charitable work. She is married to David Bowie.

My BFF sold me a few products:

People, I LOVE these products! I’ve been using them for two months now and so far I have found nothing negative to say about them. They are in one word: perfection!

The foundation has a medium coverage, a matte finish and does not break me out;
the concealer covers well and is not drying;
the blush is pigmented, looks really natural and does not accentuate my pores;
and all Iman Cosmetics products are VERY affordable!

I’m going to hang out with my new best friend as often as I can!

I depotted my MAC eye shadows!

Hey beauties!

I’m in the midst of cleaning, unpacking and putting furniture together (ok, that last one is not true…my husband is putting the furniture together, I’m just watching him…). However, I did find the time to be cool and depot my MAC eye shadows like a real make up artist! lol!

That’s right, I depotted some of my eye shadows! For those who don’t know what depotting is: it’s removing the metal pan from the black MAC ‘pot’, so that each shade is in a single metal pan. Then, placing all of the eye shadows on a magnetic board or in a MAC Pro palette.

I depotting 8 shadows and put them in two E.L.F. magnetic quads (or custom compacts (click!), as they call it), which are only 1 dollar each! Granted, they would look a lot better in a larger palette, but for me this is fine. For me it makes it a lot easier to use my eye shadows. They’re easy accessible: you don’t need to go through a lot of stuff to find the colors you want and you save a lot of room in your vanity.

I used the technique with heat. You can also depot your shadows without heat, but honestly I don’t have the time or patience for that, so I used my straightener. I haven’t been using my straightener lately anyway (it’s too humid here in Ohio!), so the thing finally served a purpose again!
