Review: IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Compact with SPF 50+ (my 1st solid serum foundation)
10 Mar 2017
IT Cosmetics has a new foundation! It’s their first ever solid serum foundation and it happens to be the first one I’ve ever tried as well. 😀
A solid serum foundation is a serum with added pigments and SPF 50+ physical sunscreen, making it a full coverage, anti-aging foundation. It’s basically 3 products in one: a foundation, a serum, and a sunscreen, conveniently housed in an easy to store and travel-friendly compact. This type of skincare/foundation has been insanely popular in Asia and is now making its way to the rest of the world. Pretty cool!
IT Cosmetics calls their new foundation: Confidence in a Compact and this is how it’s described:
Perfect for even the most sensitive skin, Confidence in a Compact helps boost your skin’s natural regenerative cycle. The proprietary Anti-Aging Armour Regenerative Concentrate is activated upon contact to immerse your skin in moisture, restore visible radiance, reduce the look of pores, discoloration, lines and wrinkles, and improve the look of firmness. You’ll see powerful results instantly and more dramatic results over time.
‘Confidence in a Compact’ comes in a very luxurious-looking, silver compact and is available in 7 different shades, including 3 shades for us women of color: tan, rich and deep. Yay! 🙂

As you know I have very oily, acne-prone skin, but I also have fine lines (I should probably say wrinkles by now…LOL) around my eyes and on my forehead. I like full-coverage foundations, but I don’t like foundations that feel heavy on the skin or that are very ‘visible’. I also tend to stay away from cream foundations because they usually make my skin even oilier.
However, this particular foundation is different. It’s definitely not a powder, but it isn’t a cream either. It looks ‘hard’ when you first open the compact. In order to activate the serum that’s inside, you need to swirl your brush into it. Only then will it become less solid, almost like a regular liquid foundation.
shade ‘Medium Tan’ (untouched)
shade ‘Rich’ (used several times)
I currently use the shade ‘Medium Tan’ and I’ll probably be reaching for ‘Rich’ in the summer.

It’s hard to explain how it works; all I can tell you is that I was very surprised to see that it works for my skin type! I thought it would be too creamy for me, but it’s not. It blends well, has full-coverage and makes my skin look smooth. It doesn’t make me any more oily. I do have to definitely wear a primer and top it off with a powder to make it last all day. I wore it on the day we went to LEGOLAND with very minimal other makeup and it looked good.
I received this product in exchange for my honest review.
