Review: Sonia Kashuk Soft Focus Satin Matte Foundation from Target

12 Jan 2017

Hi everyone! Today’s post is a foundation review. After finishing my Lancome foundation, I decided to go for a more affordable one: the Soft Focus Satin Matte Foundation by Sonia Kashuk, which you can find at Target. I’ve used it a few times, below is my review.

How it’s described
Sonia Kashuk Soft Focus Satin Matte Foundation delivers flawless-looking skin with a matte-but-not flat finish. This foundation makeup is infused with blue lotus, daisy flower and mallow extracts to nourish, protect and brighten dull skin.

• Anti-aging formula
• Perfect for oily and combination skin types
• Medium to full coverage
• Shine free and silky smooth
• Creamy yet lightweight

My thoughts
I really wanted to love this foundation. I love the packaging (it comes in a fancy glass bottle), it has a pump, it’s affordable and easily accessible. I bought it because it has a matte finish (I have oily skin) and anti-aging ingredients, which is always welcomed. It does indeed have medium to full coverage, as described, and it definitely keeps me matte for most of the day.

The problem I have is that it turns orange me! I have it in the shade 6 Camel (the darkest shade), which initially matches me perfectly. However, after an hour or so it’s not the same shade anymore. It oxidizes on me and gives me an orange hue. Very disappointing, since I do like its finish on me. 🙁 I don’t know why it does that. It might me my oily skin or maybe it’s something in my skin…I don’t know. I’ve tried it with different primers too.

What I also don’t like is the fragrance in this foundation. It has a very strong flowery smell, which I’m not crazy about. Unfortunately, I am going to have to return it.

See how my skin has an orange tone? Not good!
