Unboxing my July PLAY! by SEPHORA subscription box

23 Jul 2016

Hi! It’s me, officially the worst blogger in the world… 😀 I haven’t been updating my blog, because I’ve just been way too tired. This baby is kicking my butt! Also, I’ve been feeling slightly overwhelmed: being pregnant and having an almost 4 year old at the same time, is hard! I’m sure most other moms can relate… Finding a comfortable balance between ‘resting’ and spending time/entertaining an active toddler isn’t easy.

Anyway, I received my 3rd PLAY! by SEPHORA today! Like I mention all the time: I love subscription boxes, simply because I love trying out new things. I’m also weirdly obsessed with deluxe size tubes and bottles, they’re just sooo cute. Hihi! This month’s box has the theme ‘Summertime Radness’:

Calling all warm-weather essentials and sunny standouts: this month we’re taking on the long days and haute nights with a sultry selection that will keep you chic all summer long. Soak up the best of the season with an innovative blotting sponge, a shine-boosting hair treatment, and more beach-worthy finds.

If this is the first time you’re hearing about PLAY! by SEPHORA: it’s their new subscription box program. Inside each month’s box, which is $10, you’ll find:

• 5 deluxe samples (plus a fragrance bonus) from the same brands Sephora carries in their stores
• A PLAY! BOOK packed with tips and tricks.
• A PLAY! PASS to redeem in-store for a free one-on-one tutorial and 50 bonus Beauty Insider points with any product purchase during the same store visit.
• A cute makeup bag.
• An invitation by email to attend PLAY! DATE, a subscriber meetup held at select Sephora locations across the country.

I STILL get a lot of questions from readers and friends who are not sure whether this box is ‘worth it’ or not, so below is a detailed breakdown of the contents, which is the PLAY! for SEPHORA box for the month of July.

Quai Wave Spray – weightless texture mist gives hair an effortless, undone look while adding volume and shine.
Smashbox Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Primer – mattifying and velvet-smooth, this primer for combination to oily skin controls shine, minimizes the look of pores, and helps makeup last up to 8 hours.
Nest Fragrances Citrine – layers of fresh lotus and freesia mingle with bright citrus and a base of precious woods.

Beautyblender Blotterazzi – washable and reusable, this revolutionary cushion blotter is designed to fit into facial contours to remove shine and absorb oil without disturbing makeup.
Too Faced Soleil Matte Bronzer in Chocolate – lightweight, buildable matte bronzer formulated with cocoa powder for a natural-looking and deliciously scented summer glow.
First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser with Red Clay – foaming gel cleanser uses botanicals and red clay to remove excess oil, purify and balance skin.

Like last month, I am very happy with this box! I especially can’t wait to try that Beautyblender Blotterazzi, because I have very oily skin.
One thing I do have to mention is that shipping is very slow. Sephora sends out a notification once your box is shipped and then it takes at least a week for it to be delivered (I’m in California). This sucks, HOWEVER, when you’re thinking about it: you pay $10 for 5 deluxe products and a reusable makeup bag being shipped to your doorstep. That’s a great deal and worth the wait. 🙂

I have the same products in my Play box. I agree the shipping is really slow unlike Ipsy.
I will wait one more month to see if I like the products in the Play box, if not I’m going back to Ipsy which is also $10 a month and with the 5 products you get a cute makeup purse.
