Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks: 6 reasons why I love these
15 Jun 2016
I have a quick recommendation today! By now you must have seen Maybelline’s Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks at your local drugstore or grocery store. They’ve been out for a little while. I have to say: at first I was hesitant to try them, because I had heard several people saying these are not matte, even though they do have the word ‘matte’ in their name. For this reason I wasn’t in a hurry to try them. I didn’t try them until I received two shades for free in my most recent Influenster VoxBox. I have to say: these are actually my FAVORITE liquid lipsticks from the drugstore now! I’ll tell you why below. 🙂

After trying these lippies for a couple of weeks, I can say that there’s a trick to using them. If you apply one layer, it will dry matte. Apply two layers and it stays creamier, giving you a moussey finish. Yup! 🙂
There are literally two ways to wear this lippie, which is pretty neat! I haven’t encountered any liquid lipstick from the drugstore that does this. Moreover, the shades are truly liquid lipsticks, and not lip glosses, because they are definitely not sheer. ‘Vivid’ is indeed the right way to describe them.
Why I recommend these
• Two ways to wear them: either matte or moussey. See my findings above
• Not drying or flakey, definitely not ‘too’ matte
• Smooth and easy application; don’t accentuate the lines in my lips
• Very pigmented and absolutely full coverage!
• Very affordable – just $7.99 at the drugstore
• 10 shades to pick from: from nudes, reds and pink to deep plums

I understand why some people were confused about these not being matte. Yes, if you apply two (or more) layers, these are not going to be matte. If you want that matte look, just apply one layer and you’re good to go. 🙂
