Metallic liquid lipsticks! Milani Amore Mattallics vs Wet n Wild Metallic

12 May 2016

I think we’re officially done with matte lips! Yes, it’s been a huge trend, but cosmetics companies are slowing coming out with something else: metallic liquid lipsticks. Metallic lipstick isn’t anything new (hello 90s!), but we are currently seeing more and more shiny lips as supposed to matte ones. I’m not mad at it though: matte lipsticks can be very drying and hard to apply. Metallic lip products go on more smooth, are more moisturizing and give your lips volume.

So far, I’ve tried two brands of metallic lips: Wet n Wild and Milani. Below are my findings, including pictures and (lip) swatches. 🙂

Wet n Wild’s Metallic Liquid Lipsticks launched just recently with the Lost in the Wild Flowers Summer collection. They are available in 6 shades. They are said to be non-drying liquid colors with a metallic finish and are supposed to last for hours. In my opinion, they are more like very pigmented lipglosses, because they stay glossy (I even spot little glitter particles!) and are far from being drying. They do come off quickly and they definitely don’t stay on for ‘hours’.

Milani Amore Mattallics Lip Cremès

Milani’s Amore Mattallics Lip Cremès are metallic versions of the brand’s matte liquid lipsticks, which I love too. Unfortunately, just like the Wet n Wild metallics, these are limited edition as well.
They come in 8 shades, are super pigmented and dry to a smooth matte finish, without drying out your lips. They are waterproof and very long lasting! In fact, I have to remove these with an oil, otherwise they would last on my lips forever….

If I would have to choose between the two brands, I would most definitely go with the Milani ones, with Automatic Touch being my favorite. These are, without a doubt, the better ones here! They are metallic, but dry to a nice matte finish that is (as weird as it sounds) still ‘shiny’ looking. Moreover, the Milani Amore Mattallics Lip Cremès are super long lasting! They are must-haves if you ask me. 🙂

I found the Milani Amore Mattallics Lip Cremès at my local CVs, they retail for $8.99. The Wet n Wild Metallic Liquid Lipsticks I’ve seen at both Rite Aid and Walgreens for $2.99. If you can’t find these lippies in store, don’t worry… they are all available for purchase on their websites. Don’t wait too long though, they are limited.
