Preparing your skin for autumn

As summer comes to an end, it is time to think about how to get your skin ready for autumn. Essential oils can help you to do just that. Essential oils are extracts of a variety of plants including flowers, herbs and even some trees, many of which are grown in the wild to create herbal remedies. These oils are powerful substances and you only need to use a tiny amount to see the benefits that they can bring.
How can I use essential oils?
Essential oils can be used in a number of different ways, and for your skin, the best way to use them is in a facial massage. Remember that oils have to be diluted in carrier oil before they can be applied to the skin. Facial massage has the added benefit of giving the process of lymphatic drainage a boost. There are a number of essential oils that are beneficial for the skin and it will depend upon the issues that you want to address as to which ones you choose. Here are just a few that you could consider:
â€¢ Carrot seed: this oil is known for its rejuvenating qualities. It can help with regenerating cells, so it can improve the appearance of scars and reduce the effects of aging.
â€¢ Frankincense: this oil is naturally anti-inflammatory and antibacterial, making it a good choice for blemish-prone skin. It can reduce the appearance of pores and reduce wrinkles. It is also helpful for dry skin.
â€¢ Geranium: this oil is great for oily skin as it can help to regulate oil production and reduce the possibility of acne breakouts. It can boost the circulation of the blood to the skin, improving healing time for burns, cuts, bruises, dermatitis and other skin problems.
â€¢ Lavender: this is an oil that everyone should keep to hand! It has soothing and relaxing qualities, while helping the skin to regenerate. It can be used on all skin types.
Once you have created the blend you want, store it in a dark bottle, somewhere cool. It will last for a couple of months, depending upon the oils and carrier oil that you have chosen. Use once or twice a week as a special treatment and you will soon notice the benefits.
Essential oils for health
Remember too that oils are multi-purpose â€“ each oil can help with more than one problem. Massage with essential oils will help you to combat a number of different health conditions. For example, those who suffer from stress and anxiety will be helped by the relaxing nature of an aromatherapy massage as well as feel the benefits of oils such as lavender and chamomile. Feeling calmer will help to combat the negative effects of stress.
Muscle pain is something else that can be aided with a gentle massage. Aches and pains can be caused by a number of different conditions and not everybody wants to rely on pharmaceuticals to control them. Using oils such as warming ginger and eucalyptus can ease the ache. The oils are absorbed into the skin and move on into the blood stream.
You do not have to have specialist knowledge to make the most of essentials oils. It is so easy to incorporate them into your health and wellbeing routine you will wonder why you didn’t do it before!
