My must-have makeup for Summer: waterproof, smudgeproof, mattifying, long-lasting and oil-free!
24 Jul 2015
I’ve been asked what products I ‘can’t live without’ now that it’s Summer, so I decided to just show them here. I’m starting off with makeup and in other post I’ll do skincare. Take a look! 🙂
From left to right:
MAC Sea Me, Hear Me Extra Dimension Blush ($27.50): this blush was part of last year’s Summer collection, the Alluring Aquatic Collection. It’s described as a ‘beige pink’ and I think it looks beautiful on darker skin. It’s a warm-toned coral with a satiny sheen. It’s very natural looking. The texture is incredibly soft, finely-milled and smooth, but not powdery. The best part about this blush is that it’s waterproof and very long-lasting. Perfect for Summer!
Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base ($25): this is the best eyeshadow primer out there! If you’ve been following my blog, you probably know that I have tried other brands, both high-end and drugstore. This is by far the best! It goes on easily, creamy, and becomes invisible. I have very oily lids and in the Summer it’s even worse. If I apply this first, my eye makeup does not budge throughout the day and looks exactly the same as when I first applied it in the morning.
Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray ($30): I use this setting spray after I apply my makeup primer and then again as the final step to my makeup routine, after my foundation. It’s bomb! It prevents loss of color, melting, sliding, caking, cracking, excess shine, fading blush, drooping eye shadow and lip color disappearance etc. It’s long-lasting and therefore ideal for in the Summer!
Peter Thomas Roth CC Cream ($48): CC stands for ‘Complexion Corrector’. It’s an all-in-one product: an anti-aging treatment, sunscreen (SPF 30), complexion corrector, moisturizer and tint. Who wants to wear foundation in the Summer? I sure don’t! I prefer this CC Cream. It’s more moisturizing than a regular foundation and slightly less thick. However, it surprisingly has just as much regular foundation! I still have the occasional breakouts and this covers them well.
Sephora Cream Lip Stain ($13): in the shade African Violet: this an awesome lip stain! The formula is a liquid lipstick that is quite watery in the tube, but it dries very quickly into a completely matte finish. It does not stain my lips, but it doesn’t budge at all and it doesn’t dry out my lips so much. Lip stains are must-haves in the Summer, especially if you’re at the beach or pool. ‘African Violet’ is a gorgeous blue-toned purple/pink.
Catrice Prime & Fine Mattifying Powder waterproof (€4,99): this is a very affordable mattifying powder from the drugstore that comes in very handy in the Summer. Just throw it in your handbag and use it when needed. Even though it looks white/cream, it does not leave a white cast or make my face look weird. It goes on transparent, even on my brown skin and keeps my face matte for a few hours. No too long ago I wrote a review on this powder, you can find my review here.
Peter Thomas Roth Anti-Shine Mattifying Gel ($35): this product is described as a powerful, mattifying gel. It absorbs oil, eliminates shine, and minimizes the look of pores. It’s a fast acting gel that creates a lasting, invisible matte finish without caking or the chalky look of powder. It’s oil-free, fragrance-free and for all skin types. Even though I’m not fan of this (anymore), I’m still including it in this list. Check out my review to see why.
