Beauty question answered: Why would you use a Vitamin C serum?
16 May 2015
Hi everyone! It’s been a few days, huh? My goal is to put a new blog post up every day, but sometimes it just doesn’t happen. These last few days it just didn’t happen, I’ll save you my excuses… 😀
While I was ‘away’, I did get a beauty question in my inbox:
“I’ve noticed that you’ve been using Vitamin C serums for a while. Why exactly and which brand do you recommend?”
Thanks for your question! Yes, I’ve been using a Vitamin C serum on my face for a while now. I’ve been trying out different brands to review on the blog and I’ve noticed that my skin really seems to like it. 🙂 For this reason, it’s been a part of my skincare routine for months now! I use it at night mostly after exfoliating my face and when I wake up in the morning my skin feels like I just had a facial. I have sensitive skin and I can’t just put ‘anything’ on my skin. So if my skin doesn’t like it, it will tell me! It will start itching, turn red or I’ll get breakouts. You get the picture. I don’t get any bad reactions when I use Vitamin C serums, on the contrary, my skin feels really nice!
Besides the fact that ‘it feels good’, there are also other reasons why I use Vitamin C on my face. Everybody knows that Vitamin C is great to boost the immune system, but it’s also very beneficial for smooth skin:
* It helps fade dark spots and discolorations and evens out blotchy tones.
* It help to repair and rebuild the tissues of the skin (slows down aging).
* It boosts the production of collagen and softens the appearance of the fine lines and wrinkles on the skin.
Vitamin C serums naturally lift and firm while hydrating, healing and stimulating skin cell production.
The serum I’m currently using is by OZ Naturals. It’s the 20% Vitamin C + AMino + Hyaluronic Acid Serum and I got it through Amazon. This is how it’s described:
Clinical Strength 20% vitamin c serum for your face + vegan hyaluronic acid is the absolute highest quality vitamin c serum available. This Vitamin C Serum is guaranteed to leave your skin radiant and more youthful looking by neutralizing free radicals & is proven to stimulate collagen & reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Cruelty free, organic vitamin c serum does not contain alcohol, parabens or sulfates and is safe for all skin types.
It’s good stuff! I use a few drops and apply a thin layer on my entire face, after washing my face in the evening. I let it dry and then continue with my other nighttime products. The OZ Naturals Vitamin C Serum retails for $22.49 (1 fl. oz / 30ml) and you can find it on Amazon. Hope this answers your question! 🙂
I’ve received the product for free in exchange for an unbiased review.
