Makeup Monday: all about my New Year’s Eve makeup!

I’m starting a new series! Every Monday will be Makeup Monday! I know, it’s not that original, but I was going through my blog posts of 2014 and I realized I didn’t show you a lot of my own makeup looks last year. So by calling every Monday Makeup Monday, I’m forcing myself to show my face some more! This way you’ll see the products I review more ‘in action’.

Monday Monday FOTD


Today’s post will be a little different though. My plans were to recreate my New Year’s Eve look today, because I had forgotten to take close-up pictures that day. However, I’ve been down with the flu for the last few days, so putting on makeup is the last thing on my mind. However, I do want to start the series today, as it’s the first Monday of the year, so below are a few pictures of me taken on New Year’s Eve and the makeup I used. My husband and I went to the Stratosphere hotel and casino here in Vegas with friends, which was awesome! The best view of the city!

Makeup Monday FOTD


I kept it fairly simple: no highlight, no contouring, no lashes…none of that. I wasn’t really in the mood. I just wanted my makeup to be long-lasting, as I knew it was going to be a long night.

I’ve mentioned this a couple of times on my blog, but I’m going to do it again: I LOVE my black Up Matifying Fluid Foundation! It’s seriously the best foundation I’ve used so far. I’ve been using it for almost a year. Perfect color shade, it blends well, covers well, gives a natural look and is long-lasting. It’s a mattifying foundation, but because I have extremely oily skin it doesn’t keep me matte for long. However, the shine it gives isn’t bad looking at all. I like it!

Makeup Monday FOTD


I used a bunch of Kat Von D products as you can see. I found them at my local TJ Maxx. For my lips I used Kat Von D Foiled Love Liquid Lipstick in ‘Adora’, a candy apple metallic red. Such a pretty and vibrant color! It stains my lips and lasts for a while, but it’s very drying in my opinion. Sometime after dinner I ended up putting a lip balm on top, because my lips were feeling very dry and uncomfortable. However, I heard Kat Von D has since then improved the formula of these liquid liquids, so I can’t wait to try one of the new shades. 🙂

The eye shadow palette in ‘Little Saint’ I do love! Nice, soft shadows that were easy to blend. The colors are beautiful! Sorry, I didn’t take any close-ups, I definitely will next week. I’m also planning on doing a separate review on this palette, so you can see the shades better.
