My top 5 beauty products in 2014

02 Jan 2015

I can’t believe it’s already January 2nd! Happy New Year, everyone! It’s my yearly blog tradition to share my favorite products of the year, so that is was I’m doing today. I was planning on posting this yesterday, but I was so tired…. I had a hard time functioning all day. Let’s just say I had an awesome New Year’s Eve…lol! Follow me on Instagram for pictures.

Anyway, this is makeup/skin care that I LOVE and discovered in 2014 or started using in 2014. I don’t want to make this list too long, so I’ve limited myself to 5 items. I did not include lip products, because I simply couldn’t choose one or two, since I have so many favorites *hides face*.

Here we go! 🙂

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in ‘Radiant Light’
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Radiant Light Sephora

The first product I want to mention is this beautiful powder by Hourglass. It’s a finishing powder: you’re not supposed to wear it on its own, but you apply it on top of liquid foundation (or tinted moisturizer), in stead of a regular setting powder. I have it in the shade ‘radiant light’, because this one is not super pearly (is that a word?), but it does give you a subtle, natural glow. You can’t really tell in regular light, but when the sun hits your face,or in pictures…it’s beautiful! According to Hourglass this powder makes you appear softer, younger and lit-from-within. I agree! And it’s very natural looking too, it makes my skin look warmer. The word ‘sun-kissed’ definitely comes to mind! Great purchase! Read more here.

Healthy Feet Foot Cream by O’Keeffe’s
O'Keeffe's for healthy Feet Foot Cream

My second favorite is a foot cream, as odd as this sounds. The Healthy Feet Foot Cream by O’Keeffe’s is meant for people whose feet are severely dry and frequently crack and split. Now, my feet aren’t that bad (thank god), but they do get dry and ashy looking. This is by far the best foot cream I’ve ever used! It’s a nice, thick cream, that is not greasy. It doesn’t smell like anything either. I put it on every night right before bed, after I’ve showered. After the first use I already noticed a big difference in how my feet felt. After a couple of uses, I could see the difference as well. My feet feel SO soft and look healthy! The skin doesn’t get as dry as it used to. This cream literally and completely changed the texture of the skin of my feet. I think it’s an amazing product! Read more here.

Sea Buckthorn Exfoliating Scrub by Sibu Beauty

My next favorite of the year is this scrub by Sibu Beauty. I love this stuff! It thoroughly cleanses my skin and makes it feel totally soft. The scrubbing particles are the right consistency (the ‘grains’ are big, but not too big) and don’t irritate my skin. It has a gel-like consistency (very smooth on the skin) and doesn’t foam. The scrub does have a scent (it’s fruity), which doesn’t bother me at all. It’s gentle, makes my skin feel fresh and soft and it helps me wake up in the morning. Very gently, yet very effective. I love the fact that this product does not contain parabens or harsh chemicals. And even better: the sea buckthorn berry is known for its acne-fighting characteristics! Read more here.

Valentia Even Glow Serum
Valentia Even Glow Serum Skin Skincare Review

A big discovery as far as skin care goes in 2014, was finding out how amazing Vitamin C is for my skin! This serum by Valentia hydrates your face all day leaving it with a refreshing, well-rested and radiant glow. It contains 20% Vitamin C, which my skin seems to love! I have very sensitive skin and most highly concentrated products just make me breakout. This doesn’t. It’s a light, clear substance and not greasy whatsoever. You only need a few drops of it and it smells really nice. I’m normally not a big fan of citrus scents (usually it smells fabricated), but this smell is the real deal and it smells lovely. And after only a couple of weeks of using it, I’ve noticed a softer texture and smaller pores, which amazing to me! Also, it makes my skin feel really soft and smooth. I have since finished this particular bottle, but I’m still using Vitamin C on my face every night (different brand), my skin loves it. You should try it! Read more here.

Matifying Fluid Foundation by black Up

The last favorite product of 2014, is my foundation. The entire year I used the Matifying Fluid Foundation by black Up. I was recommended this foundation, because I have extremely oily skin. Like the name says, it is a matifying foundation. But don’t let the name fool you! It’s not matifying in the sense that it dries up fast, leaves your skin feel really tight or accentuates dry spots and marks on your face. On the contrary: its finish is not all that matte, in my opinion. Definitely not dewy, but it not completely matte either. It’s somewhere in the middle, which is perfect for me. My face never stays completely matte anyway and I like the finish the foundation gives: it doesn’t make your face look flat and dull, there’s a little bit of ‘life’, if that makes sense. It’s very natural looking and the shade I have matches me perfectly! Read more here.

As you know I try out a lot of different products, but these are the 5 that were my absolute favorites! Of course I can go on and on, but I won’t. Every blogger is doing a ‘favorites of the year’ blog post or video right now, so I didn’t want to make my post too long. 😉 Let me know if you’ve tried any of these!
