A Week of Favorites: the Dermesse Acne Pad Treatment
26 Aug 2014
Hi there! It’s day 2 of my Week of Favorites: products I’m loving right now! Yesterday I wrote about my favorite hair product. And today it’s all about a product I use daily on my skin.
As you probably know I suffer from adult acne. Not the severe kind, but enough to make me scream sometimes… LOL! In the last couple of years my skin has been a lot better (mainly because of the right products), but I do notice that every time I change something in my skin care routine (even if it’s just something small), my acne comes back. So I’m sure you understand that I’m very careful now about what I put on my skin. It has to be something reaalllly good for me to try it!
When Dermesse offered to send me a few of their products, I did check out their website first to see what the brand was about. When I saw that the brand offers skin care products online that could previously only be purchased at plastic surgeon or dermatologist offices, I was very curious. The first product I tried, and immediately fell in love with, was their Acne Pad Treatment! Keep reading to find out what this is and why I love it! 🙂
What it is:
Acne Pads contain Salicylic Acid (beta-hydroxy acid) to penetrate and clean your pores, glycolic acid to gently exfoliate your skin and reduce clogging, and a nonionic surfactant to breakdown the skin oils. Salicylic Acid acts as a keratolytic agent; it causes the cells of the epidermis to slough off more readily thereby preventing pores from clogging and becoming infected with bacteria. source
My thoughts:
These are pads that you wipe on your face where you have pimples (or where you usually get pimples) and don’t rinse off. The pads are wet, because they already contain the acne treatment, which is mainly Salicylic Acid. Below is the full list of ingredients:
0.5% Salicylic Acid, Ammonium Hydroxide, Edetate Disodium, Ethyl Alcohol SD 40, Glycolic Acid, Propylene Glycol, Purified Water, Nonoxynol 9
I’ve been using these pads for a while now, they are super easy to use. I take one right after I wash my face at night and wipe it on my face. I let the treatment ‘sink in’ and then continue with the rest of my routine. Easy! I don’t have to mess with liquids, glass bottles, cotton pads etc. Great for travel too. The treatment tingles a little bit right after I apply it and it does dry out my skin a little bit, but other than that I haven’t experienced any disturbing irritation. And most importantly: I’ve had no pimples either! 🙂
Where to find:
You can find the Dermesse Acne Pads on the Dermesse website. A jar contains 60 pads and retails for $24. If you’re suffering from severe acne, I would definitely recommend checking out their other acne treatment products as well! You can find the whole system here.
