How I remove my makeup at night

17 Jun 2014

Putting on makeup on is fun, but removing it at the end of a long day is even more enjoyable! 😀 Everyone has their own preferred way of removing their makeup. I’ve tried a bunch of ways, but I always start with a good makeup wipe.

Makeup Removal Wipes

My all time favorite makeup wipes are ones that a friend gifted me once, they are the Cleansing Water Cloths by Japanese brand Koh Gen Do. They are AMAZING (the ingredient list alone will seriously make you drool!), but unfortunately kind of expensive (review).

The wipes I’m using at the moment are the PS. Love Your Skin Oil Balancing Facial Cleansing Wipes that are sold at Primark*. They are really inexpensive (€1.50 for 50 wipes) and work really well. These wipes are formulated for oily skin as they contain witch hazel and tea tree. They feel very soft and they don’t dry out after having them open a few days. They do smell kind of perfumy as they contain some kind of fragrance. Luckily they don’t irritate my skin or anything.

Makeup Removal Wipes

Nothing compares to makeup wipes! Especially on the days when I wear a primer, my beloved Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation (which is long lasting), different powder products and a setting spray, I prefer to use a wipe to get everything off before I start taking of my eye makeup with a cleansing lotion (Kruidvat Oog Make-up Remover, €1,89) and then washing my face with a facial cleanser (Coral Actives Acne Cleansing Bar, $7.95). Yes, starting off with a makeup wipe IS an extra step (step 1 of 3), but I have oily, acne-prone skin, so for me it’s worth it. 😀

What’s your method of makeup removal at night? Are you as thorough as I am?
