Review: Dead Sea Mud Facial Mask by Pure & Essential Minerals

05 Jun 2014

On Sundays I mask! If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you probably know this. I try to have an ‘at-home spa’ day every Sunday, which usually takes about an hour or so. I apply a mask, scrub my feet, paint my nails…that sort of thing. By setting a specific day of the week, it makes it easier for me to commit to it. This is a review on the mask I’ve been really enjoying lately. It’s the Dead Sea Mud Facial Mask by Pure & Essential Minerals. This is a mask with pure Dead Sea mud and all natural ingredients. I got it from Amazon. Below are my thoughts on it.

About this mask

It’s exactly what its name says it is: a facial mask with minerals from the Dead Sea. Dead Sea minerals (magnesium, calcium, sulfur, bromide, iodine, sodium, zinc and potassium) cleanse and soften your skin, reducing pores. Dead Sea mud has been renowned for centuries as a natural beauty remedy. Besides minerals, it also contains organic shea butter and natural oils. Natural oils moisturize and hydrate your skin, helping to reduce wrinkles. The mask does not contains harsh chemicals and artificial additives.

How I apply it

I think we all know how to apply a mask, right? In case you don’t, here’s a quick how-to:

”Stir the contents of the Dead Sea Mud Mask to ensure the best consistency. Apply a medium layer of Mud Mask to the face and upper part of the neck, avoiding the eye area. Leave on to dry for 10 minutes to allow full absorption of Dead Sea Minerals and extraction of any impurities. Remove the mask first by wetting and gently rubbing in circular motion for an overall exfoliation. Wash any excess mud mask off with lukewarm water and gently pat dry. Use once a week.” source

Also, don’t forget to wash your face prior with warm water! This is important, because any makeup, dirt and oil can prevent getting all the benefits the mask has. Washing with warm water will also open up the pores. Dry your face before applying the mask.

I myself leave the mask on for about 20 minutes. I remove it by throwing some warm water on my face and gently rubbing in a circular motion to exfoliate the skin. After that I wash the mask completely off using warm water and a wash cloth.

My thoughts:

If I had a pick a favorite type of mask, it would definitely be a mud mask. Love it! I like how mud masks do a great job at sucking up all the junk in your skin and tightening up your pores. This mask is no exception. It makes my face feels clean and soft, but also very moisturized (not dry whatsoever!). I love how it smells too, very spa-like (probably the oils that it contains). I’m happy that this stuff comes in a big jar, because I definitely see myself using this for a while. I can tell that this is the kind of mask that will give you great (anti-aging) results in the long run!
