Gear up for Summer! Recently discovered Summer favorites
23 May 2014
I guess my Gear up for Summer topic is becoming a whole series. 😀 Hope you don’t mind! I just love Summer and everything that comes with it. Even preparing for it is fun! If you missed the other posts, click on the links below, they will open in a new tab:

Today I’m sharing a couple of products that I’ve recently discovered and that happen to be perfect for sunny days. I’ve been grabbing for them a lot these last few weeks. For example, I don’t like wearing a lot of makeup (foundation) when it’s warm outside, so I tend to reach for tinted moisturizers. Check all of my Summer favorites out below!
Recently discovered Summer favorites
Olaz Essentials Complete Plus Touch Of Foundation
This is an Olay moisturizer combined with a sheer Max Factor foundation. It moisturizes, evens out my skin tone a little bit, gives it a nice golden glow AND it also has SPF 15 to protect my skin from UV rays. Winning! (do people still say that? :-D). It comes in 2 shades: light and medium. I, of course, have it in the darkest shade. There’s not much of a color to it, but it does moisturize, protects me against the sun and gives me a healthy, golden glow. Yeah, baby!
Demak’up Micellaire Tonic Fris
This is a micellar water by the Dutch brand Demak’up. If you don’t know what a micellar water is: its name comes from the word ‘micelles’. These are little bundles of molecules that attach well to oils and dirt. These molecules are added to the water and gives it its cleansing qualities. Micellar water does exactly the same as soap, but because of its composition it’s a lot less aggressive. There’s no need to rinse with water afterwards. I use it at night. I apply it on a cotton pad after I’m ‘done’ cleaning my face and then apply it like I would a tonic. You’d be surprised to see how much dirt still comes off my face! Strangely, it’s kinda awesome to see. 😀
The Foot Factory Cracked Heel Balm
The words ‘cracked heel’ sound so disgusting, right? Probably because it is! Because I don’t want to spend a lot of money on getting salon pedicures this Summer, I decided to purchase a few good products myself to do ‘at-home pedicures’. This deeply hydrating balm by The Foot Factory is one of them. It replenishes lost moisture and softens very dry skin leaving your feet feeling and looking softer. I apply it at night before bed, because it’s not the nicest cream to have on your feet (it’s kinda thick), yet it’s super hydrating.
Dr. Van Der Hoog Quick Boost 3-minuten masker op basis van Jojoba-olie
This is a mask by Dutch brand Dr. Van Der Hoog. It’s main ingredients are jojoba oil and aloe vera. It’s a 3-minute mask that’s supposed to give you a ‘quick boost’, as its name implies. Perfect to apply right before you step into the shower, so you can rinse it off when you’re done with showering. Even though the mask is of a very thick consistency, it feels very light on the face. Besides making your face feel all clean and refreshed, it smells good too!
This Works Perfect Look Skin Miracle
OMG! I will be doing a separate review on this product by This Works soon, cause I LOVE IT! It’s a tinted moisturizer that gives you instant radiance, as well has long term hydrating. It also has VERY good ingredients, like vitamin C and anti-inflammatory vitamin E that diminishes skin imperfections and Hyaluronic acid that takes care of the hydration. It’s a tinted moisturizer, but also skin care and it preps your skin for makeup. This has been a great find for me, because it takes care of my skinc, gives me a little bit of coverage and a pretty glow without having to apply foundation and different powders. Some days I mix it into my foundation and some days I use it on its own. It’s not greasy and gets quickly absorbed into my skin. Full review and before & after pictures coming soon for sure!
Kruidvat Aloe Vera Vaseline
Last but not least, a cute little jar of of aloe vera vaseline by Dutch drugstore Kruidvat. Yes, it’s mainly just petroleum and a little bit of aloe vera, but it does do an awesome job at keeping my lips nice and juicy. This little thing protects and relieves dry and chapped lips, while locking in moisture to help them heal. Dry lips in the Summer are definitely a no-no for me, so this jar will be going everywhere with me.
