A Week of Favorites: Face Primers

29 Jan 2014

This whole week will be ‘a week of favorites’! I’ll be showing you some of my favorite products in the same product range: these will be items that I currently own, love and still use. Click here to check out day 1 about nail polish top coats.

Day 2 of my Week of Favorites is all about face primers! A primer is something that you put on your face before you apply your foundation. It neutralizes the skin, minimizes shine and creates a smooth canvas for your foundation. Primers help keep makeup looking fresh and prevents fading.
As you can see in the picture below, I always use a primer before I apply my foundation (before powder or liquid, either way), it’s a step I never skip! It controls the oil on my face and keeps my foundation from disappearing.

From left to right:
*Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector (found at Sephora)
*it Cosmetics No. 50 Serum Anti-aging Collagen Veil Primer (Ulta/QVC)
*Black Radiance Complexion Perfection Shine Control Primer (Walgreens/Meijer)
*Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer SPF 15 (Sephora) Full review here
*Catrice Prime and Fine Smoothing Refiner (Kruidvat)

Special mentions: Becca Ever-Matte and Black Radiance Complexion Perfection. Price wise these are on the opposite sides of the spectrum, one’s from the drugstore and the other one is high-end, but I think they are both great!

Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector by Becca
This retails for a whopping $36! I purchased mine during Sephora’s Friends & Family sale last year, so I got 20% off thankfully. This is an excellent primer if you have oily skin. Its formula specifically targets oil-prone areas and acts as liquid blotting paper to leave your skin fresh and matte. I’m planning on writing a full review on it soon, so stay tuned for that. 🙂

Complexion Perfection Shine Control Primer by Black Radiance
This bad boy cost me just $5.99, but don’t let its low price fool you! If you have oily skin, this one is worth trying as well. Of course it doesn’t have the great ingredients that Becca Ever-Matte has, but if you’re on a budget this is a great alternative.

Day 3 of my ‘Week of Favorites’ will be up shortly!
