I love being a beauty blogger! I swear, every time I consider quitting (I have those moments), I get send something to review that I end up LOVING! That’s what happened to me this time too. I was feeling really ‘uninspired’, until I was sent a palette by Studio Gear containing white, silver, gold and coal eye shadows and a pink blush. Initially I wasn’t expecting too much (lemme be honest), but boy was I wrong! This is a really nice palette, perfect for the upcoming holidays and perfect for someone who doesn’t wear eye shadows often.
Studio Gear Cosmetics Holiday Smokey Eye Palette
How it’s described:
Be radiant on any occasion with this sultry, shimmery palette of dramatic shades: perfect for creating a classic smokey eye look, with a hint of unexpected golden glimmer. This collection of four complimentary eye shadows with matching blush deliver several day to night options that are both seductive and wearable. With pure color, pigment-rich formulations, you’ll be sure to smolder all night!
So this is the Studio Gear Cosmetics ‘Holiday Smokey Eye Palette’. It’s a very simple and basic palette. At first look I wasn’t super excited: the shades all look very straightforward and unoriginal. When I first swatched everything (on my arm), I wasn’t all that impressed either. Great colors for a smoky eye, but nothing I didn’t already have in any of my other makeup palettes. The swatches all looked ok. The one shadow that didn’t swatch that great was the frosty white in the top left corner: too much glitter for my liking. Anyway, here are the swatches on my arm, so you can see for yourself.
However, from experience I know that a swatch on my arm doesn’t say anything about how the shades blend and how long they last. In fact, sometimes colors turn out different on my eyelids or cheeks. You guessed it: that was the case with this palette. The shades didn’t look like much on my arm, but when I actually applied them… Woohaa! Love!
The shadows were pigmented, blended like a dream (very easy to apply) and they held up great all day long (along with an eye shadow base of course, because I have very oily lids). Same for the blush, loved it! I used this palette every day for a week, applying different color combinations for my eyes. Even though this is a smoky eye palette, I created more ‘every day’ looks. Below are pictures of my favorite look, using the blush and 3 eye shadows. My favorite shade is the gold that I applied all over my lid in the pictures and the coal that I put in the crease. I used the silver in the inner corners.
Overall, this is a lovely makeup palette. Nice, blendable colors that are easy to combine and stay on. Great for travel too, because it’s thin and very compact.
