Tired of beauty boxes yet? There seems to be a new subscription box coming out every month, but I still get excited every time I see a new one (that’s no surprise, right? I’m sure you know me by now!). I really don’t mind, because I love discovering new brands and products and I love receiving goodies in the mail! I was recently offered to try a new one called Wantable, a beauty and jewelry subscription box. According to Real Simple magazine it’s one of the best sample subscription boxes out there.
Knowing all of this I couldn’t wait to see what I would receive. I decided to go for the makeup box, as opposed to jewelry/accessories (I have to admit, it was a difficult decision!). I filled out the ‘personal style quiz’ on Wantable’s website and signed up. I did receive my box for free in exchange for an honest review. Below is what showed up on my doorstep.
From their website: “Wantable offers hand picked, curated, boutique makeup and jewelry items in a monthly subscription box at a great value. You either choose a jewelry box or a makeup box. The makeup box does not have any samples, it’s all full size products, valued at $80 or more. Subscribing to Wantable will cost you $36 per month or you can purchase a single box for $40″. Below was what was inside my August box.
Included is a thank you note and my receipt. The note starts with ‘Hello Gorgeous’. Nice! Can’t go wrong with that.
Here are the six products I received. Five full size products and one sample (even though Wantable claims to only send out full size products…). A quick Google search tells me that the various brands are pretty prestige, score!
From Manna Kadar: Glossware Hot Lips Lipgloss
This is a gorgeous pink!
From FACE Stockholm: Cake Eyeliner in black
From Be a Bombshell: Bombshell Blush in ‘Sweet Cheeks’ (a rosy pink with a bit of shimmer)
From Rainbow Honey: Nail Lacquer in ‘Fire Spring’ (a coppery orange shimmer with holographic glitter)
From 29 Cosmetics: Dew Lip Gloss in Napa Sunset (a coral)
A sample of Echo Vie’s Organic Body Oil
And here’s a shot of all the products (minus the body oil)
My overall impression: not bad, not bad at all! In fact, I’m kinda digging it! It’s different from the other boxes I’ve tried in the past that mainly focus on skin care. I had heard of FACE Stockholm (a Swedish cosmetics company), but the other brands are totally new to me. I’m a little disappointed that I received a sample anyway, despite the fact that Wantable states on their website that they send out full size products. But that’s ok though. I did get five very lovely full size items that I’ll probably never finish up anyway.
I’m especially curious to try FACE Stockholm’s Cake Eyeliner, because I’ve never tried a cake liner before. In short, a cake liner is a water-based eyeliner. It’s a highly-pigmented pressed powder that you apply with a damp brush for a very clean line that doesn’t budge. Can’t wait to see if this particular one is good! Also really liking that hot pink lip gloss by Manna Kadar and the Be a Bombshell pink blush. So yeah, I’ll be trying out these products this weekend and all of next week and come back with mini reviews of each item to let you know what I think. Sounds good?
Wanna try Wantable yourself? Go to Wantable.com and take the personal style quiz. I’m curious, would you pick a box filled with makeup like I did? Or would you prefer jewelry and accessories?
