Review: Garnier BB Cream Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector (combination to oily skin)
29 Apr 2013
My intent was to get this review to you last week, but it didn’t quite work out. Days just fly by! I’m still in Holland and I’m trying to enjoy my time here as much as I can, definitely don’t want to spend too much time online. However, I did want to sit down and get this review to you as soon as possible! I think that a lot of you will like this particular product for the upcoming hot days! Today’s review is about a great drugstore product, affordable and widely accessible: Garnier’s latest BB Cream. I received it for review purposes from Bzzagent. Keep reading to find out why I like it so much. 🙂
What is it?
There has been a lot of buzz about BB Creams in the past year, it’s crazy! If you’re one of the few who still doesn’t exactly know what a BB Cream is: a BB Cream serves as an all-in-one product: it’s a moisturizer, a primer, a light-to-medium coverage foundation and it also has sun protection. BB Creams are popular because they have all these different attributes. In stead of using separate products, you can replace them with one single item.
BB Creams originated within the Korean beauty industry. They have been around for a while and have been very popular, but have recently found their way to Europe and the US. I won’t go into all the history and details, this review will probably be long enough. 😉
Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector Oil-Free BB Cream is one of the newest on the market. Its secret weapon is the oil-absorbing mineral Perlite, which delivers a flawless finish that’s shine-free all day and lightweight for ladies with oily and combination skin. I myself have very oily skin, so I was happy to try it and share my thoughts!
What are my thoughts?
Almost a year ago I compared two BB Creams: Maybelline’s Dream Fresh BB Cream and Garnier’s Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream. You can find my comparison review here. Garnier has since release a new BB Cream, the Skin Renew.
Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector comes in 5 shades and I have it in the darkest shade, ‘deep’. This shade is a little too dark for me right now (I’m NC45 in MAC foundations), I probably should have gotten ‘medium/deep’. However, I think that as soon as I have a nice tan, it will match me a lot better. It has a yellow, slightly reddish, undertone. Here’s a swatch of ‘deep’ on my wrist, my wrist is lighter than my face.
This BB cream has a matte finish and pretty much stays matte throughout the day. LOVE! I also think it has a decent coverage for a Western BB Cream (I’d say medium) and great staying powder.
I don’t have anything bad to say about the product. The only thing I can think of is its packaging. It comes in a tube, which can get a little messy. I personally would prefer it to be in a pump tube. Efficient and less messy. However, for its price I think this packaging is just fine.
Overall, I really like this BB cream for people with combination to oily skin! Definitely better than the original version and definitely better than other drugstore BB Creams!
Where to buy
You can find Garnier’s BB Cream Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector at drugstores and mass retailers like Target and Walmart. I believe it’s also sold here in The Netherlands (correct me if I’m wrong!). It retails for $12.99. Right now if you go to Garnier’s Facebook page you’ll find a $1-off coupon! You can also go to Garnierusa.com for more information. 🙂
