Everybody knows that getting a facial at a beauty salon isn’t cheap. Why not save your money and do it yourself? A good homemade facial mask contains nutrients that the skin needs, like vitamins and oils. A mask for oily skin will also contain drying substances that reduce the amount of oil in the skin and remove the dead cells from the upper layer of the skin.

Here’s a 3 great DIY facial masks you can easily make at home. These are specifically geared towards people who have oily skin, like I have and very easy to make yourself. 🙂

• Oatmeal Mask
1/2 boiled apple
1 teaspoon of honey
2 teaspoons of ground oatmeal

Mix all the ingredient until you get an uniform mixture, apply on the face for ten minutes and wash carefully afterward.

The oatmeal is good for pimples, it also absorb the excess oil on the skin. The acids in the apple remove the dead skin cells and clean the pores. The honey works as an antibacterial ointment that destroys bacterium, that can cause infections.

• Yogurt Mask
Yogurt contains lactic acid, which is a natural non-irritating exfoliant that gently slough off dead and damaged cells. Also, the enzymes found in yoghurt will ‘eat up’ the harmful bacteria on the skin that can lead to acne.

1 spoon on yogurt
1 teaspoon of cornflour
1 spoon of honey
1 spoon of lemon juice
2 drops of tea tree oil

Mix everything together and apply on clean skin. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes and wash with lukewarm water.

• Tomato Mask
Tightens the pores, refreshing and lightning.

Mash one medium tomato. Add scraped peel from half of a lemon and a half of spoon of fresh lemon juice. Apply the mixture on the skin, except near the eyes. Leave for ten minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.
