Beauty products I’ve stopped using since having a baby
29 Aug 2012
Hi ladies! Today’s post is about beauty products I’ve stopped using since having my son. These skin care items contain either Retinol or Benzoyl Peroxide, which are both said not to be safe when nursing. It is recommended to discontinue use until after lactation, unless advised by a physician. I, of course, don’t want to do anything that might hurt the baby, so I’ve put these products aside. Want to see which items are not in my bathroom anymore? Keep reading!
The first product is the Exuviance OptiLight Tone Corrector: This is a treatment that reduces the intensity of dark spots and corrects uneven skin tone. It’s a really good product: I was using it for a while and was seeing great improvements in my skin. It however contains Retinol, so it’s a no-no right now. You can read my full review here.
This is an acne treatment by Coral Actives: the Retinol Exfoliating Cleanser with Sea Whip Extract and the Penetrating Acne Serum with 6% Benzoyl Peroxide and Sea Whip Extract. These two have been great to me! Whenever I had breakouts, I reached out for these and they’ve worked wonders. I’ve dedicated several posts to this acne system: here is the link to the first review I’ve written.
Last, but not least: I’ve also stopped reaching for my nail polishes that might contain harmful chemicals. The only polishes I’m using now (if any, I actually haven’t been wearing nail polish that often) are the ones that are toxin-free, like the ones by Julep and Zoya. All Zoya nail polish and nail polish treatments are free of toluene, formaldehyde, DBP and camphor. Julep Nail Color is toxin-free as well: it does not contain formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene and DBP. Both brands have really pretty and unique colors, so I don’t mind just using these.
Question for all you moms: any other beauty products I should stay away from while breastfeeding my baby boy?
