I always get a lot of questions on which makeup brushes to use and which ones I use or recommend. Today I thought I would show you which ones I use and why I like using these particular ones. I mostly use brushes by Sigma (online only), because they’re affordable and of good quality.
Sigma also has frequent discount codes (you can always find the current coupon code in the sidebar!) and you get a free gift (it used to be a free travel brush, now it’s a free mini eye shadow palette) with every purchase. Of course you don’t necessarily need brushes by this particular company. Most likely you can find something similar at any other brand!
Above are most of my brushes. I wash them once a week (or once every two weeks) and I dry them with the help of my Sigma Dry ‘n Shape System (pictured). This is a brush roll that dries makeup brushes in 4 to 6 hours.
There are 12 slots with a band that goes around each handle and each bristle section. It not only completely dry your brushes in a fraction of the time, but also reshapes them to their original form. I love it! I use it every single time and would not want to be without it. I’ve written a full review about it in the past, check it out here.
So on to my favorite brushes.
Sigma has a collection called the Synthetic Precision Kit (also known as ‘Sigmax’, I believe), which consists of 8 brushes. Below are the ones I use the most and would definitely recommend!
Precision Flat – P80
The P80 is a small, flat top brush that is ideal to conceal blemishes, sun spots and small imperfections on the skin. It can be used to stipple concealer on defined areas, followed by precise application of setting powder.
I use this brush to stipple concealer on any blemishes I may have and to apply cream eye shadow.
Precision Tapered – P86
The unique tapered shape of the P86 brush is ideal for application of concealer under the eyes and in defined areas such as the sides of the nose, chin and around the mouth. This brush can also be used to perfectly apply concealer around the lips to prevent color bleeding.
I use this brush to apply cream concealer under my eyes.
Angled Kabuki – F84
The F84 is the one one the right
Unique feature: soft and angled head. Function: blended cream product application. Recommended use: Buff cream blush or bronzer onto the skin.
I use this brush to buff blush on my cheeks. It works better in my opinion than a regular blush brush!
Flat Top Kabuki – F80
Unique Feature: dense and flat head. Function: Buffed foundation application. Recommended use: Application of liquid or cream products to flat areas of the face such as the forehead and cheeks.
The F80 is a great flat top brush to apply, liquids, creams AND powders. I personally like to use this flat top brush to really buff in and set foundation and powder. It leaves the skin looking flawless and almost ‘airbrushed’ looking.
There you have it! My current 4 favorite brushes. Hope this helps!
