Review: Essence I love Stage Eyeshadow Base
24 Jun 2012
Hi everyone! Hope you’re all had/are having a nice weekend! Here in Kentucky it is hot. Really hot and humid. It’s hard to breath, hard to move, it’s hard to do anything really….It’s about 90 degrees, which is about 32 degrees Celsius. Not fun if you’re carrying an active little boy in your belly…
Anyway, today’s post is a review for a product that I bought during my last ‘vacation’ in The Netherlands. Check it out below.
What is it?
This is how German brand Essence describes this product:
It belongs to the stage and is sure to turn any lady wearing it into the star of the show: the I love stage – eyeshadow base! It can either be used as a base for concealer or eyeshadow. The creamy texture won’t settle in the crease of your eyelid – it makes every eyeshadow last longer and intensifies the color. For a smooth eye make-up that is just waiting for its grand appearance in the spotlight!
So basically, this is an eye shadow base. If you’re not exactly sure what an eyeshadow base is used for, check out this post I wrote a while back! It explains it all!
Here’s a swatch of it.
What are my thoughts?
I bought mine at Kruidvat drugstores in The Netherlands, back in April. I’ve been trying it off and on ever since and I can be really short about it: it’s not for me.
It doesn’t make my eye shadow last at all. My eye shadow creases after an hour or so. My liquid eye liner doesn’t last long either. Probably because I have oily lids, or maybe because of the hot weather here in Kentucky, or both… either way, it doesn’t work! I’m back to using my Too Face Shadow Insurance, because this stuff just doesn’t do it for me.
It might work for you if you have dry lids. In that case, give it a shot, because € 2,49 for an eyeshadow base is really inexpensive!
Also, I like the packaging (it looks expensive) and the doe foot applicator (very handy).
Where to buy?
Essence I Love Stage Eyeshadow Base is available in one shade (01 beige) and contains 0.13 fl. oz / 4ml. It retails for EUR 2.49 in Europe. In The Netherlands you can find Essence at Kruidvat and Trekpleister.
I tried to find it on Ulta’s website (Ulta sells Essence products in the US), but I can’t find it. Not sure if they will start selling it, since it is a limited edition product for Spring in Europe. But honestly, if you do find it somewhere, I don’t really recommend it! For more information about Essence’s I love Stage products (it’s a whole line), check out Essence’s website.
