Review: Reviva Labs Hyaluronic Acid Serum

06 Apr 2011

Besides the Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C Ester & DMAE Cream that I LOVE (review here), I also received another product from Reviva Labs to review: the Hyaluronic Acid Serum.

Reviva Labs Hyaluronic Acid Serum

The Hyaluronic Acid (H/A) Serum is a daily moisture booster. Hyaluronic Acid helps raise skin’s moisture level to fill-in furrow, plump up tissues and tone-down lines.

Unlike products that depend on moisture in the air, HA can help hydrate skin even in dry climates or heated rooms that rob skin of moisture.
  • With adequate liquid intake, our new professional strength Hyaluronic Acid Serum can add moisture to skin and help less the look of wrinkles.

Demineralized spring water, Glycerin (veg.), Hyaluronic Acid, Polysorbate 20, Hydrolyzed Mucopolysaccharides, Green Tea Extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Simethicone, Caramelized Sugar, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid.

What I think

Because Reviva Labs recommends layering products and using serums under creams, I used this serum at night under my night cream. I was excited about this product, because I can certainly use some firmness in my skin. Even though my skin is oily, it still needs moisture!

Unfortunately within a day after first applying, my face started acting up. I got big bumps on and under my skin (cystic breakouts, really) and my skin and lips felt and looked really puffy. It wasn’t good! I kept using it for about a week (I’m stubborn like that), hoping that it was something else that was causing my face to act like that. When I stopped using it, my skin cleared up within a day and my lips returned to their normal size… The problem was clearly my skin reacting to the H/A serum. šŸ™

I’m not sure why though. However, since I have extremely oily (acne prone) skin, I’m thinking that this product was just too much. It just didn’t work for me. Overmoisturizing can cause skin problems for some…. unfortunately I’m one of them. I actually wrote an article about that a while back.

It’s ok though! We know that not all products work the same for everyone. I’m happy with my Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C Ester & DMAE Cream, also by Reviva Labs.

Looking for a high-potency, professional strength moisture booster because you have dry skin, fine lines or because you’re in a dry/heated environment all day? Look no further! šŸ˜€ You can find Reviva Labs’ Hyaluronic Acid Serum on their official website of RevivaLabs. It retails for $22.00 (contains 1 oz/31 gram).
