I’ve mentioned this product a few times on my ‘face of the day’ blog posts, but I’ve never dedicated an entire post to it! I don’t know why, since it’s a product love dearly and use daily.
I’m referring to Dr. van der Hoog’s Sulfopowder. Dr. van der Hoog is a Dutch brand and the sulfur powder is part of their ‘Clearskin’ line (for oily, acne prone skin). Available at drugstores in The Netherlands. I haven’t found an American equivalent yet…
I use it daily, under foundation or on its own. The great thing about this powder is that it contains 3% sulfur. I’m a big fan of sulfur in skincare: it works well against acne and blemishes and it’s a decent mattifier. It instantly takes away the oil on your face. Granted, the oil will come back and the powder does not prevent me from breaking out ever, but it does a good job drying out pimples and sucking up any oil on your skin. I have two compacts: one for in the bathroom (I hit pan on it!) and one for in my purse. See pics above.
One downside: it’s not transparent. It’s tinted, and unfortunately it’s a shade lighter than my skin. It’s not that noticeable though (my hubby doesn’t even see it)... If you have a lighter skin tone, the powder will cover up your blemishes.
One last thing: beware of pictures!! This powder will look decent in real life, but it photographs white. You will end up looking like a ghost on pictures!
See what I mean?

Ghost face!!
Excellent buy, but don’t use if you know you’re going somewhere where there will be cameras…
