Review: the Clarisonic PLUS Sonic Skin Cleansing System

Finally! It’s the review you’ve all been waiting for!!!
Ok, I know I’m exaggerating a little bit, but that’s just because I’m really exited about this!
My boo gave me this as a ‘welcome to the US’ gift and I can honestly say the Clarisonic skin cleansing system is definitely my nr. 1 beauty tool EVER!
My nr. 2 is my Remington straightener, in case you’re wondering… Both gifts from my boo, who obviously selects the best gifts
If you’re not familiar with the Clarisonic: it’s a skin cleansing system. A gentle, sonic micro-massager (basically looks like a big Sonicare Toothbrush) that cleans your skin better than anything I’ve ever used before! It not also cleans your skin, it also helps reduce oily areas, dry skin patches, blemishes and the appearance of visible pores, fine lines and wrinkles. And it’s gentle enought to use twice a day.
I came up with 8 questions (see below) you guys must have and answered them. If your question has not been addressed here, let me know.
1. What does the Clarisonic do?
From their site: Clarisonic developed the sonic technology proven to gently yet effectively loosen dirt and oil to clear your pores. The Sonic Skin Cleansing System uses a patented sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second to clean, soften and smooth your skin. In just 60 seconds a day, the micro-massage action cleans more than twice as effectively as manual cleansing.
2. Which Clarisonic do you have?
There are 4 different types: the MIA, the Classic, the PLUS and the PRO. These are all cordless. I have the Clarisonic PLUS Sonic Skin Cleansing System. It comes with the Clarisonic PLUS (duh!), a charger, face & body brush heads and three different cleansers. Click here to find it on the official site.
3. What is the difference between the PLUS and the original?
From what I can tell, these are the main differences:
- Brush They both have a sensitive brush head. The PLUS however also comes with a body brush head.
- Speed The PLUS has three speeds plus body mode, the original just has two speeds.
- Charger The original has a 120v AC charging cradle and the PLUS has a universal one.
- Cleanser The original comes with three different cleansers. The PLUS also comes with a ‘refining skin polish’.
- Color The original is available in three colors (white, pink and graphite gray). The PLUS is only available in white, which they call the ‘limited edition model’.
- Price The original costs $195 and the PLUS costs $225.
4. What comes in the box?
- Cordless Clarisonic PLUS
- Universal Charging Cradle (100v-240vAC; 50/60 Hz)
- Sensitive Brush Head
- Body Brush Head
- 1 oz. trial sizes of Refreshing Gel Cleanser, Gentle Hydro Cleanser and Nourishing Care Cleanser
- 2 oz. trial size Refining Skin Polish
5. Is the Clarisonic suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes, besides the ‘normal’ and the ‘body’ brush head, there’s also a ‘sensitive’ brush head (that’s the one I have, which is obviously meant for sensitive skin) and a ‘delicate’ brush for extra-sensitive skin. Clarisonic recommends replacing the brush head every 3-4 months.
I myself have sensitive skin and it works fine for me. Don’t use it when you have big pimples (pustular acne), open wounds, extreme sunburns or a serious sensitive–skin disorder though!
6. How much does it cost?
The original costs $195 and the PLUS costs $225. You can also find Clarisonic on QVC.com or Beautychoice.com I believe my boo purchased it on sale on Beautychoice.
7. How does the Clarisonic work for you?
GREAT! I love this thing! It cleans amazingly well and makes my skin feel smooth and soft! And after using it for 4 weeks (once a day), I can tell that my pores appear smaller and using the cleanser daily has definitely tightened up my skin. It only takes 2 minutes to clean my face, so it doesn’t add too much time to my daily skin care routine.
8. Are there any cons?
The only con for me is the battery life. It lasts just 30 minutes with the facial brush head or 20 minutes with body brush head. But you only use the device for 1 or 2 minutes at a time AND it charges pretty fast. So this ‘con’ isn’t really that bad…
In short!
I know it’s a lot of money, but if you can get your hands on this device…get it! I definitely recommend it!
